The Team 

Dr Ethan Maloney BVSc

Ethan graduated from JCU University and has worked in Far North Queensland for multiple years. Mixed practice is what Ethan enjoys the most and giving back to the local community.  

He is community minded and provides veterinary services at the Cairns, Mareeba, Atherton and Cooktown Turf Clubs on the weekends.

Ethan is heavily involved in all aspects of veterinary science from small animals to large animals and all medical and surgical aspects. He provides a wide range of services for his clients both locally and further afield.

Outside of work he enjoys fishing and attending social events. Ethan is joint owner of Sundance Veterinary Services.  

Dr Roxanne Harvey BVetMed CertAVP (ESM)

Roxanne  graduated from the Royal Veterinary College London and moved straight out to Australia. First working in a mixed practice in the Adelaide Hills where she gained her interest in equine breeding and stud medicine, then onto an equine hospital near Brisbane before making the move to North Queensland in 2016, working back in mixed practice.

Roxanne gained her certificate in advanced veterinary practice of equine stud medicine in 2018. Her main interest is equine stud medicine, however enjoys all aspects of equine work from foals to emergency work to routine health care appointments such as dentistry.

Since starting Sundance Veterinary Services Roxanne has enjoyed getting back into doing some small animal consulting work.

Outside of work Roxanne enjoys spending time with her young horse and walking the dogs.

Shelly

Shelly’s passion and love for small animals began at a young age, often bringing stray and injured animals’ home with her after school.

On completion of high school Shelly completed a trade certificate in hairdressing as well as a certificate III in Health and Science with The Qld Ambulance Service where she worked alongside paramedics for several years.

After having time off to raise a family, Shelly returned her attention to her love of animals, studying a certificate IV in veterinary nursing. She trained under FNQ Vets in Mareeba and graduated with her qualifications in 2018.

She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing especially small animals however, is looking forward to enhancing her large animal skills in the future.

Jessica  

Jess has always been very passionate about all animals big or small. Growing up on a dairy farm and horse training facility, Jess’s love for big animals grew from a young age.

After completing high school, Jess started working at a mixed animal practice for 5 years, where her main interests were anything equine related. Jess thoroughly enjoys and is very interested in equine reproduction.

In her free time, Jess enjoys going to horse events or going camping.

Dr Lisa Gooden BVSc

Lisa is a local girl born and bred, growing up on her family's mango farm. She then moved to Townsville to study her veterinary degree at JCU. After graduating, Lisa went on to work in South East Qld, Townsville and then Cairns, before moving back to Mareeba and joining Sundance Vets.

She has a keen interest in ultrasonography, soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology. She prides herself on providing the best level of care and advocating for her patients.

In her spare time, she is kept busy by her young family and fur babies.

Katie

Katie is an Innisfail local who completed her Cert IV Veterinary Nurse qualification and training in Cairns in a small animal practise in 2019. She has a particular interest in Surgical nursing and Canine and Feline nutrition.

Since joining our team she has enjoyed expanding her nursing skills to large animals and is excited to further her knowledge in Equine nursing.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys camping, gardening and horse riding.

Alyssa

Alyssa is a local Mareeba girl, and once finished school, she knew that she wanted to work in the animal industry. After completing work experience here in the clinic and acquiring her Cert II, Alyssa is now working full time with the very experienced team at Sundance Vets.

As she moves into her Cert IV studies, Alyssa has gained lots of insights and experiences inworking with smaller animals and is also looking forward to learning all things BIG as well. 

During her extra time, Alyssa enjoys the outdoors by camping, hiking and riding.
